Something Happened in the UK with Whipped

Published on May 5th, 2012

I woke up this Friday morning to a crazy pleasant surprise, my free Whipped zApp has jumped from about 600 new users on average per day to 7000+ new users. Then again on Friday, another 7000+ new users. Shocking! Likewise, the premium version of the Whipped zApp has jumped from a dozen or so purchases a day to over 100!

What changed? Well, in analyzing the download and advertisement data, it appears that on Thursday, something happened in the United Kingdom. As you may or may not know, my Whipped zApp was modeled after an App used in an episode of Big Bang Theory, that airs on Thursday, however, in the US at least, this was a new episode, not the one with the whip app. So did they show a rerun in the UK on Thursday? Did some random advertisement or story pickup my App in the UK? I’ve Googled for a while and have come up with nothing. If any one of my two readers is from the UK and has any theories what might have happened on Thursday to make the Whipped zApp skyrocket in popularity, please let me know below!
